Phase One

The duration of phase one is usually 10 weeks.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn the fundamental Routing & Switching technologies — Link-Layer, IGPs, Redistribution and BGP
  • Master the "Options Analysis” and “Spot the Issues" learning and problem solving approach
  • Develop personalized verification milestones with each of the major phase one technologies

Self-Paced Learning Activities

All of the learning objectives listed above will be fulfilled by completing the following Cisco 360 lesson modules:

  • Link-Layer Technologies
  • Frame-Relay
  • IGPs
  • BGP

Once students have viewed all of the assigned video-on-demand (VOD) sessions and have performed the supplemental quizzes and hands-on technology focused labs, they must then perform the first ten workbook labs up to BGP only. Students should extensively use the mentor guide tool with the workbook labs to maximize their learning experience.

In addition, at least three graded assessment labs should be performed during phase one. The very first lab that should be performed is the “pre-assessment” lab that will provide a baseline of performance as students begin their CCIE preparation effort. When performing graded assessment labs, students also should participate in exam reviews with their mentor. Based upon their performance with phase one learning and assessment activities, the mentor will advise the students when to move onto phase two.

Note: It is recommended that students attend the first advanced workshop during the latter portion of phase one.
